it's hard to imagine Angelina Jolie without her six children – but the actress has admitted there was a time when she thought she'd never have a family. "It's strange, I never wanted to have a baby. I never wanted to be pregnant. I never babysat. I never thought of myself as a mother," the star told the Associated Pressduring an interview in Cambodia this week.

In fact it was only after Angelina came to Cambodia to film 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider that her maternal instincts began to kick in. The star spent time playing with children at a local school, and she said: "It was suddenly very clear to me that my son was in the country, somewhere."

Harper Lee: US author of To Kill a Mockingbird dies aged 89

Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, has died at the age of 89.

The news was first confirmed by the mayor's office in her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama.

The novelist was born Nelle Harper Lee on 28 April 1926.

In 1960, she published Mockingbird, a huge critical and commercial success which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and told the tale of a white lawyer defending a black man accused of rape in America's deep South.

The book sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.

A sequel, Go Set a Watchman, was published in 2015.

Speaking to reporters after his arrival, Bollywood star Imran Abbas discussed his love of Istanbul. “This is my second time coming to Turkey,” he said, “We Pakistani people like Turkey and the Turkish people, we have much common culture and history.” Adding that he loves Istanbul in particular, Abbas noted that he had studied architecture back in school and looked forward to exploring the city’s architecture.

 “We have joint project with Ersin Faikzade. We are planning to shoot a video for a song in Urdu and Turkish,” he added.

Royal security shake-up plan sparks fears among team charged with keeping Queen and her family safe 

Scotland Yard has launched a major shake-up of protection for the Royal Family, the Evening Standard can reveal.

The decision has caused uproar among Royal and Diplomatic Protection Department officers charged with guarding the Queen and her family, including high-profile members Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Prince Charles was sufficiently concerned on learning of the proposed changes that he raised them with senior Met officers at Assistant Commissioner level. But the measures were implemented regardless of his intervention. It means the Yard’s elite SO14 department has effectively been stripped of crucial back-up officer support.
The Met said the move is not about cost-cutting and insists there will be no impact on the safety of the royal family. But it will affect the security of all senior royals, including the Queen, Prince Philip, Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Now SO14 officers, who work very long hours, are threatening to operate under European Union 40-hour-week guidelines after some of their colleagues were bluntly informed by email that they were “no longer in post”. A claim that the move will cut costs comes amid heightened security concerns, particularly the threat of home-grown terrorists.
